Job Overview: The primary objective of the English Language Arts Instructor is to foster student achievement and development in both academic and social skills by implementing the district-approved curriculum. This role involves documenting educational progress and addressing the unique learning needs of each student within a supportive and flexible classroom environment.

Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid Illinois teaching license.
  • Required endorsement in Language Arts.
  • Completion of necessary professional development for certification maintenance.
  • Successful passing of a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting and screening.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Building Principal and Assistant Principal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a curriculum that aligns with the educational goals of the district.
  • Create a classroom atmosphere that promotes safety and supports individualized instruction.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that translate into effective learning experiences.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student performance and adjust teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Instruct students on responsible citizenship and relevant subject matter as mandated by educational regulations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about current educational practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and other necessary documentation.
  • Encourage parental involvement in the educational process and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to evaluate and enhance curriculum effectiveness.
  • Select and manage educational resources and materials effectively.
  • Ensure student behavior and attendance meet established standards.
  • Utilize modern teaching strategies and adapt instruction based on individual learning styles.
  • Apply knowledge of educational standards and laws to instructional practices.
  • Organize and manage classroom activities efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with students and their families.
  • Participate in self-assessment for professional growth.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and students.
  • Administer standardized assessments in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
  • Uphold a professional code of ethics, ensuring confidentiality and loyalty to the educational institution.

Employment Terms: 180 days, with salary and benefits determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Evaluation: Conducted in accordance with the Central School District 51 Teacher Evaluation Plan.
