Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal/Legal Assistant II to support the Asset Forfeiture Section at the United States Attorney's Office. As a key member of our team, you will assist attorneys in reviewing case material, gathering and analyzing evidence, and preparing legal documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in reviewing case material, including gathering and analyzing evidence and preparing legal documents
  • Provide research support, including searching public records and preparing reports
  • Assist in preparing for trial, including organizing exhibits and creating statistical charts and photographs
  • Interview potential witnesses and prepare summary interview reports
  • Review prepared legal documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Attend pre-trial meetings to review case materials and identify potential issues
  • Prepare summaries of testimony and depositions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Paralegal Certificate or High School Diploma/GED with at least two years of related experience in a law office or government setting
  • Paralegal/legal assistance experience preferred
  • Trial and automated litigation support experience preferred
  • Ability to grasp and understand the organization and functions of the customer
  • Knowledge to conduct basic legal research, including standard legal citation
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional disposition under extreme pressure
