Job Summary

The Supplier Development Engineer is a critical role within American Honda Motor's Global Supply Chain organization. This position is responsible for ensuring a continuous flow of parts to our production lines, supporting the recovery of critical production suppliers, and driving supplier performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Development: Collaborate with suppliers to identify and address quality, capacity, and delivery issues, ensuring compliance with Honda's quality standards.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Analyze and improve supply chain processes, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, lead time reduction, and increased efficiency.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, providing feedback and coaching to drive improvement.
  • Crisis Management: Respond to and resolve supplier-related crises, ensuring minimal disruption to Honda's production operations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and drive results.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a related engineering field, such as Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, supplier development, or a related field, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications: ASQ CQE or CQA certifications, Six Sigma or Lean Sigma training, and experience with internationally recognized quality systems such as AS9100, TS16949, or ISO 9001.
