About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Development Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Co. in a key role that will support the development and improvement of our supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Supply Chain Team: Collaborate with our supply chain team to achieve business objectives and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality parts.
  • Represent HACI at Suppliers: Act as a liaison between Honda and our suppliers, escalating issues as needed to prevent disruptions to our operations.
  • Engage with Suppliers: Develop strong relationships with suppliers to understand their capabilities and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assess Supplier Weaknesses: Conduct root cause analysis using the 8D methodology to identify and address supplier weaknesses.
  • Monitor High-Risk Supplier Issues: Proactively monitor and address high-risk supplier issues to prevent disruptions to our operations.
  • Develop Supplier Problem-Solving Techniques: Drive the development of supplier problem-solving techniques to address identified supplier fault issues.
  • Improve Supplier Production Systems: Collaborate with suppliers to improve their production systems and processes to prevent disruptions to our operations.
  • Drive Supplier Operational Excellence: Work with suppliers to drive operational excellence, including capacity and tier-n management support.
  • Develop Mitigation Action Plans: Develop and implement robust mitigation action plans to address supplier-related issues.
  • Comply with HACI Processes: Ensure compliance with Honda's processes and procedures, including all integrity and code of conduct policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: A bachelor's degree in a related engineering field is preferred.
  • 5+ Years of Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the technical aspects of aircraft and non-aircraft related design and manufacturing processes.
  • Quality System Experience: Experience working with and auditing to internationally recognized quality systems such as AS9100, TS16949, ISO 9001 is preferred.
  • Lean Sigma Experience: Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean Sigma methodologies is preferred.
  • Program Management Experience: Program management experience managing complex project-based assignments is preferred.

  • Supplier Quality: Experienced in supplier quality, capacity management, manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or crisis management preferably in the aerospace industry.

Working Conditions
  1. Equipment Noise and Odors: Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  2. Physical Demands: Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  4. Communication and Comprehension: Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  5. Physical Abilities: Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided 'reach assistance technology' or 'movement assist technology' (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly's, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
