Job SummaryWe're seeking a Graduate Assistant for Residential Life to join our team. As a Graduate Assistant, you'll play a key role in developing, administering, and supporting a comprehensive residence life program. You'll work closely with our residential life staff to create a positive and inclusive living environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, and community engagement.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement residence life programs and initiatives that promote academic success, personal growth, and community engagement.
- Provide support and guidance to residential students, including advising, counseling, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with residential life staff to create a positive and inclusive living environment.
- Assist with the management of residential facilities, including maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Must be a full-time degree-seeking graduate student at VCU.
- Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0.
- Must be in good academic standing and good conduct standing.
- Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of VCU and Residential Life & Housing policies.
- Must communicate well in group and one-on-one situations.
- Must establish oneself as a leader through positive rapport with diverse populations.
- Must employ critical thinking skills to solve problems.
- Experience working in residence life or a related field.
- Knowledge of VCU and Residential Life & Housing policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
