Job Title: Application Engineer I

Mesa Energy Systems, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction and facilities services. We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer I to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Application Engineer I will work with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems. This role requires strong technical skills, including the ability to read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans, understand basic electrical control circuits, and be proficient in Visio and AutoCAD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems.
  • Reads and identifies mechanical equipment on floor plans.
  • Understands basic electrical control circuits.
  • Is proficient in Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Understands controls networking principles.
  • Displays knowledge of controls hardware.
  • Creates P&ID's based on contract drawings P&ID's.
  • Develops controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
  • Understands simple installation methods, final inspection and testing, customer acceptance and training.
  • Ability to implement systems graphics per project scope, create control algorithms, source codes and implement graphics.
  • Creates guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
  • Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for control system installations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 – Niagara N4 Certified.
  • Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
  • Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance desired.
  • EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.
