Job Overview

Summary: This pivotal role is essential for the seamless execution of all catering events, including coffee breaks, multi-course dining, and beverage services. The Event Service Specialist assists the Banquet Captain in ensuring the successful management and operational delivery of catering functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently meets and surpasses guest expectations.
  • Effectively communicates with guests, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Maintains punctuality and adheres to attendance guidelines.
  • Delivers exceptional service quality to guests at all times.
  • Interprets Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and executes setups accurately.
  • Ensures tables are set up correctly and uniformly, utilizing clean linens, unblemished silverware, intact china, and spotless glassware.
  • Prepares and maintains table complements such as condiments and bread baskets.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the menu for each event and can articulate the key ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Keeps the service area tidy and organized during events, regularly checking on guests.
  • Serves food, beverages, and refills as necessary.
  • Handles special requests from guests regarding food and beverage orders.
  • Addresses any food-related complaints by directing them to the Banquet Manager.
  • Completes all assigned opening and closing duties, including cleaning the event space.
  • Returns reusable items for cleaning and restocking.
  • Assists in the breakdown of buffet setups and other service areas.
  • Greets and serves guests, adhering to the principles of exceptional hospitality.
  • Follows all procedures related to guest checks and cash handling for a la carte and beverage orders.

Additional Information

Skills Required

  • Must be at least 19 years old to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Familiarity with various food service styles, including plated, buffet, and table-side service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests and team members.
  • Capable of providing clear written communication.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions.
  • Knowledge of effective organizational practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education and Experience

Prior experience in banquet service, ideally within a high-end hospitality environment.
