Position Overview

This role is situated within the Departmental Offices of the Treasury, specifically focusing on Terrorist and Financial Intelligence. As an Information Security Analyst, you will autonomously engage in a diverse array of tasks related to the formulation, assessment, and execution of systems designed to protect the organization's assets, facilities, personnel, and other resources from unauthorized access, misuse, theft, vandalism, sabotage, or loss.

Key Responsibilities

In accordance with established regulations and in collaboration with senior officials, this position is part of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.

The following responsibilities are associated with this role at the GS-12 level. If selected at a lower grade, you will have the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and receive training to excel in this position.
  • Assess, evaluate, and adjudicate personnel security investigations conducted by various investigative agencies.
  • Document findings, provide security recommendations or determinations, and develop written case disposition recommendations for actions such as employment suitability or retention in sensitive roles, as well as the granting, denial, suspension, or revocation of security clearances.
  • Collaborate with a team to assist in the creation, implementation, and oversight of policies and procedures for the management and protection of classified materials within the Department of the Treasury.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria by the closing date of the announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12 level, candidates must possess one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:

- Analyzing and applying laws, principles, concepts, policies, practices, or regulations governing personnel, physical security, and/or information security to review, analyze, and resolve security issues; AND

- Developing and preparing factual explanations to articulate recommendations; AND

- Providing guidance to junior specialists regarding security processes; AND

- Implementing practical security principles, concepts, and methods in executing assignments.

EDUCATION: Candidates may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M., if relevant.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • A two-year trial period may be required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
