About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Maintenance Facilities Technician to join our team at Glaukos Corporation. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of various building systems and production equipment to ensure the efficient operation of our facilities and production in a cGMP environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine and preventive maintenance activities on cleanrooms, manufacturing equipment, laboratory instruments, laboratory refrigerators, freezers environmental chambers, HVAC systems, utilities, and other facility assets according to established schedules and procedures in adherence to cGMP standards.
  • Inspections and Troubleshooting: Conducts inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, mechanical issues, or electrical failures promptly and effectively.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment histories, and calibration data, to support regulatory audits and quality assurance requirements.
  • Monitoring and Documentation: Monitors and documents the operation and maintenance of all HVAC-related equipment and systems.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Assist in the installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and facility upgrades, ensuring compliance with cGMP standards and technical specifications.
  • System Maintenance: Develops and assists in maintenance of other systems such as humidification systems, water systems, compressed dry air systems, vacuum systems, and other similar critical systems.
  • Log Maintenance: Develops, prepares, and maintains daily operation logs for all HVAC equipment.
  • Multi-Skilled Tasks: Performs semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, trouble shooting and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpet, and tile.
  • Equipment Operation: Operates equipment such as light trucks, forklifts, and other related motorized equipment.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assigned. Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Contractor Oversight: Responsible for overseeing the activities of contractors associated with facilities and production equipment operations.
  • Safety Inspections: Assist with safety inspections and, along with Facilities Department, see that all facility safety issues are corrected. May be required to test facilities safety apparatuses such as fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, safety shower / eyewashes- and update safety logs monthly.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Documents all work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Work successfully in a multicultural environment. Work independently with little or no supervision.
Requirements
  • Experience: 6-8 years of full-time experience as a journeyman in the air conditioning and heating field to include hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of a central plant. 6-8 years of full-time experience as a building maintenance mechanic or as a skilled worker in one or more building maintenance trades. Experience with energy management systems and refrigeration equipment.
  • Knowledge: High school diploma or GED Required. Package units, Heat pumps, Pumps and water treatment systems. Heat recovery and energy storage systems. Basic desktop computing. Electrical and plumbing systems. Building Management Systems. Maintain records and prepare reports. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Work successfully in a multicultural environment. Work independently with little or no supervision. Maintain preventive maintenance programs. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems its associated controls and energy management systems. Work off-shift hours and weekends if necessary. Facilities experience in critical environments such as clean rooms and or within the life sciences industry.
  • Education: Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the air conditioning and heating trade. Completion of 2-year HVAC degree or apprenticeship preferred.
