Job Title: Water Resource Control Engineer

Join the State Water Resources Control Board as a Water Resource Control Engineer and contribute to protecting and restoring environmental water quality in the San Francisco Bay Region.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resource Control Engineer to join our team in the Agricultural Lands Program Section. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing projects to evaluate and resolve cases of water quality degradation, as well as serving as the Regional Board's Tribal Affairs Liaison and overseeing its Tribal Affairs Program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement projects to evaluate and resolve cases of water quality degradation through development of Total Maximum Daily Load projects (TMDLs) or TMDL alternatives.
  • Collect and assimilate information related to PCBs in the San Francisco Bay, and work with technical experts to develop watershed models and collect data pertaining to the fate and transport of PCBs.
  • Apply engineering skills to analyze sources and loadings of PCBs, and update the PCB TMDL to attain water quality objectives.
  • Lead the Regional Water Board's Tribal Affairs Program and serve as the Tribal Coordinator, engaging with California Native American Tribes and supporting all Regional Water Board staff in their efforts to develop legislation, regulations, rules, and policies that affect tribal communities.
Requirements:

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class. If the position requires driving, you must possess a current and valid driver's license.
