We're seeking a Part-Time Retail Associate at our Fillmore Street store who will embody our passion for chocolate and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

About the Role

As a retail associate, you'll embark on a journey to become an expert in all things chocolate. You'll learn about the origins of our cocoa, the processing methods, and even create your own batch of chocolate. Your expertise will enable you to recommend our confections, treats, and bars to customers, ensuring they find the perfect match. This role starts at $23.75/hour, offering a competitive compensation package.

A Day in the Life

A typical day will begin with opening the shop, ensuring the shelves are fully stocked and visually appealing. As customers arrive, your focus shifts to providing a personalized experience, answering questions, and making recommendations. You'll develop a rapport with guests, work independently when needed, and navigate unexpected situations with confidence. Whether it's a regular customer or a chocolate enthusiast, you'll maintain your composure and provide exceptional service.

About You

We're looking for a mature, team-oriented individual who is passionate about learning and sharing their knowledge of chocolate. You'll be responsible for:

  • Chocolate Excellence: Provide accurate allergen information and make recommendations to customers based on your chocolate expertise.
  • Guest Service: Deliver exceptional customer experiences, ensuring timely and professional service, even during peak periods.
  • Systems & Processes: Identify opportunities to improve operating procedures, checklists, and documentation, benefiting the entire team and contributing to cafe improvements.
  • Team-player: Be a positive, team-oriented player who supports colleagues, even during challenging situations.
Requirements
  • Great Interpersonal Skills: Develop a rapport with customers by sharing your knowledge of chocolate and its origins.
  • Previous Experience: 1-2 years of retail or customer-facing work experience in a fast-paced environment, with experience making espresso drinks a plus.
  • Weekend & Weekday Availability: Some evening and weekend availability is required, approximately 24 hours per week.
  • Physical Stamina: You'll be comfortable walking, standing, bending, and occasionally lifting (25 lbs) throughout the 8-hour shift.
  • Language Skills: Fluent spoken English is required, with additional language skills a plus, as we frequently host guests from around the world.
