About Us

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in the heart of San Francisco's vibrant Mission District. We take pride in crafting high-quality chocolate from only two ingredients: cocoa beans and cane sugar. Our team travels frequently to origins to build strong relationships with producers who grow and ferment cacao beans. We're seeking a Part-Time Retail Associate at our Fillmore Street store who will embody our commitment to excellence and provide exceptional customer service.

About the Role

As a retail associate, you'll embark on a journey to become an expert in all things chocolate. You'll learn about the origins of our cocoa beans, the processing methods, and even how to create your own batch of chocolate. You'll develop a deep understanding of our confections, treats, and bars, and be able to recommend the perfect chocolate experience for each guest. This role starts at $23.75/hour and requires a strong passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

A Typical Day

A typical day in the life of our Part-Time Retail Associate might start with opening the store, ensuring the shelves are fully stocked and visually appealing. As the day unfolds, you'll focus on providing a thoughtful and exquisite experience for each guest. You'll ask the right questions to help them find the perfect chocolate, and ensure they leave feeling satisfied and educated about the world of chocolate.

About You

We're looking for a mature, team-oriented individual who is eager to learn and share their passion for chocolate with others. You'll develop authentic relationships with guests, work independently when needed, and navigate unexpected situations with confidence. Whether it's a regular customer or a chocolate enthusiast, you'll maintain your composure and provide exceptional service.

Responsibilities
  • Chocolate Excellence: Develop in-depth knowledge of our products, including allergen information and be able to answer questions with ease. Make recommendations to guests based on your expertise and experience.
  • Guest Service: Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring each guest has a memorable and enjoyable experience. Be timely, dress professionally, and develop long-standing relationships with our customers.
  • Systems & Processes: Identify opportunities to improve operating procedures, checklists, and documentation to benefit the entire team and drive cafe improvements.
  • Team-player: Be a positive, team-oriented player who brings the team up even in challenging situations. Your coworkers will appreciate your contributions and want to work with you again.
  • Other tasks as necessary: Be flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  • Great Interpersonal Skills: Develop quick rapport with customers by sharing your knowledge of our chocolate-making process and inspiring guests to learn more about chocolate.
  • Previous experience: 1-2 years of retail or customer-facing work experience in a fast-paced environment. Experience making espresso drinks is a plus.
  • Weekend & Weekday Availability: Some evening and weekend availability is required, approximately 24 hours per week.
  • Physical Stamina: Be comfortable walking, standing, bending, and occasionally lifting (25 lbs) throughout the 8-hour shift.
  • Language Skills: Fluent spoken English is required. Additional language skills are a plus, as we frequently host guests from around the world.
