  • Must hold a current Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist applies advanced skills in surgical technology to assist in delivering high-quality patient care within the surgical suite. This role is crucial in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring patient safety throughout surgical procedures.

Essential Duties
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of aseptic techniques and their application.
  • Assists in the preparation and organization of surgical supplies and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Registered Nurse circulator to prepare patients and manage supplies and instruments effectively.
  • Adheres to departmental policies and procedures in all tasks.
  • Ensures the sterility of surgical supplies prior to use and accurately documents supply usage.
  • Monitors sterilization processes and maintains accurate records.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and in-service training to stay informed on current practices.
  • Engages in educational opportunities to enhance skills and meet professional goals.
  • Contributes to the development of departmental policies and standards.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource for colleagues.
  • Takes on specific clinical projects as assigned.
Physical Requirements

This position involves exposure to various environmental conditions, including noise and chemicals. The role requires effective communication skills and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 35 pounds, and utilizing both hands for precise movements.

Qualifications

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited surgical technology program or have completed military training in surgical technology. A minimum of five years of experience in an operating room setting is required, along with current certification.
