Job Responsibilities

As a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN), your duties will include conducting assessments, creating care plans, and implementing and evaluating treatment for assigned patients. You will collaborate with various healthcare professionals to refine and achieve care objectives, while continuously monitoring the patient's physical, emotional, and social needs.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Regular patient assessments and reassessments.
  • Conducting triage assessments with swift data collection related to medical and traumatic emergencies.
  • Evaluating injury causation and ensuring that any neglect or abuse is reported to the appropriate authorities.
  • Developing care plans with interdisciplinary team members, including expected outcomes for each patient.
  • Accurately verifying, documenting, and administering medications.
  • Providing health education to patients and families, along with appropriate documentation.
  • Assessing the patient's progress towards achieving desired outcomes and documenting the effectiveness of interventions.
Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of emergency department nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a hospital environment.

Education: Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENCP) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
