As a Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, formulating a care plan, and implementing and evaluating care.
As a vital member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will collaborate with other professionals to ensure the safe and precise delivery of care.
- You will perform age-appropriate assessments of patients upon their arrival to the surgical suite.- You will assist with patient care during anesthesia induction and/or prepare patients for local anesthesia.
- You will establish and maintain a sterile and secure surgical environment.
- You will execute correct surgical preparations.
- You will accurately document and report patient care.
- You will demonstrate proficiency in all surgical specialties and equipment.
- You will engage in staff and self-development.
- You will assist in orienting new employees.
- You will complete annual departmental competencies.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Services Registered Nurse.
Education
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred.
License and Certifications
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – per SDH policy.
