Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Systems Manager plays a pivotal role under the administrative guidance of the Pharmacy AVP or their delegate. This position is essential for the operational support of the Pharmacy division. The incumbent will be tasked with the development, training, and implementation of pharmacy systems to ensure compliance with 340B regulations, permitting, and best practices for both clinic and outpatient pharmacy services, which encompass both owned and contracted pharmacies.

Qualifications:


• A minimum of 10 years in pharmacy management is preferred.


• Fundamental medical knowledge, particularly in pharmacology, is required.

• Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.


• Knowledge of databases, including EMR systems; experience with eClinical Works is advantageous.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supervisory Duties:


• Oversee pharmacy inventory management.


• Collaborate with Pharmacy Management Providers to enhance pharmacy operations.


• Set priorities, assign tasks, and manage the workflow of staff.


• Participate in weekly Pharmacy Committee Meetings to facilitate communication and strategic planning.


• Serve as a member of the 340B Compliance Committee.

Additional Responsibilities:


• Uphold a professional image and foster excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, and colleagues in alignment with our Mission, Vision, and Core Values.


• Manage the operational aspects of outpatient pharmacy technical support and maintain expertise in relevant pharmacy technologies.


• Monitor the 340B program and inventory, escalating any issues to the Pharmacy AVP or Chief Pharmacy Officer.


• Assist Pharmacy Management Providers in maximizing the 340B capture rate.


• Develop and maintain processes for managing approved manufacturer visits.


• Support the auditing of 340B eligibility for prescriptions filled at our pharmacies.


• Act as a liaison between clinic and pharmacy stakeholders.


• Contribute to the development of the Care Coordination Center.


• Create a system for reviewing referral prescriptions for 340B qualification.


• Coordinate the orientation and training of new employees in technical functions.


• Organize in-service education activities for staff as necessary.


• Clearly communicate expectations to staff to ensure awareness of performance standards.


• Engage in problem-solving and troubleshooting related to pharmacy and clinic inventory and the 340B program.


• Participate in quality assurance initiatives within the department.


• Maintain a high level of technical competence and work performance.


• Provide solutions to enhance service delivery to patients and team members.


• Interact with clinical staff to address pharmacy-related concerns or commendations.


• Understand and manage shipping procedures and delivery logistics.

Physical Requirements:

• Adequate hearing for effective communication in person and via telephone.

• Clear speaking ability for patient interactions.

• Sufficient visual acuity for reading printed materials and computer screens.

• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 30 pounds for specific tasks.

• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements are required, along with standing, walking, and sitting throughout the work shift.
