Overview of Responsibilities:

The Audit Manager serves as the primary point of contact between the firm, the client, and the audit team. This role involves overseeing multiple audit and accounting projects concurrently, ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and coordination of engagement workflows. The Audit Manager is also responsible for training and developing team members while fostering relationships to generate new business opportunities for the firm. Compliance with professional standards and regulations is a critical aspect of this position.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Oversees all stages of audit, compilation, or review engagements.
  • Plans, organizes, and allocates resources for engagements in line with firm policies, delegating tasks to optimize efficiency.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with clients, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of their business and industry.
  • Supervises and mentors staff, providing on-the-job training and reviewing their work products.
  • Encourages staff development through constructive feedback and performance evaluations, fostering professional growth.
  • Develops and manages engagement budgets, analyzing variances from expected outcomes.
  • Prepares engagement letters for partner approval.
  • Ensures high professional standards are upheld throughout the audit process.
  • Informs partners of significant developments and provides analytical insights and recommendations.
  • Communicates engagement progress, challenges, and resolutions to clients.
  • Prepares client invoices and discusses fee structures with clients.
  • Assists with departmental administration as directed by Audit Partners.
  • Builds and nurtures client relationships to secure ongoing and new business.
  • Manages all client engagements efficiently and professionally, regardless of complexity.
  • Evaluates internal controls and audit work programs developed by team members.
  • Proactively identifies potential issues and queries that may arise during engagements.
  • Ensures financial statements and reports comply with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of the firm's philosophy regarding financial matters.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Managers are accountable for all engagements and various administrative tasks, including:

  • Performing administrative and professional functions of subordinate staff.
  • Conducting performance reviews for team members.
  • Exhibiting strong communication skills by sharing information effectively with staff, partners, and clients.
  • Preparing engagement budgets and managing client billing.
  • Building client trust and respect, creating opportunities for additional services and new business.
  • Working independently while identifying issues to discuss with partners before making decisions.
  • Contributing to staff development through recruitment and training initiatives.
  • Participating in business development activities for the firm.
  • Completing additional reports and projects as requested by partners.
  • Serving as a content creator and instructor in educational programs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a Master's degree in accounting. A degree in another business discipline may qualify if it includes sufficient accounting credits for CPA eligibility.
  • A valid CPA license is mandatory.
  • Proven ability to generate new business for a CPA firm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional education as required by the AICPA and relevant state society.
  • Membership in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs and applicable state society.
  • Proficient in computer use, with familiarity in tax software (preferably CCH) and tax research tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings and seminars, using personal transportation.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required for client engagements or seminars.
  • Availability for overtime work during peak periods, particularly from mid-January through April.
  • Minimal safety hazards in a general office environment.
