Position Summary

The ideal candidate for this role is a detail-oriented professional with a proactive approach, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills are essential, as this individual will collaborate closely with other department members to achieve shared goals and enhance overall knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of federal and state tax filings, including Individual, Corporate, Trust, Fiduciary, and Exempt returns.
  2. Development of intricate income tax returns, covering Individual, Partnership, Corporation, and S Corporation types.
  3. Execution of quarterly tax projections for review by the Tax Manager.
  4. Oversight of tax preparation documentation and initial return assessments.
  5. Management of quarterly and annual payroll tax submissions.
  6. Calculation and distribution of W-2s and 1099 forms.
  7. Drafting tax correspondence and assisting in negotiations with tax authorities.
  8. Conducting tax research as needed.
  9. Supporting the Tax Manager in coordinating audits from various tax authorities.
  10. Assisting in the formation and dissolution of entities as directed by the Tax Manager.
  11. Providing training and guidance to Staff Accountants on tax-related matters.
  12. Identifying opportunities for enhancing service delivery and communication.
  13. Building strong relationships with Business Management teams to gain insights into client needs and risk assessments.
  14. Proactively addressing potential issues and proposing solutions.
  15. Creating presentations tailored to various management levels.
  16. Utilizing tax expertise to formulate strategies for deferring tax liabilities.
  17. Reviewing general ledgers for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
  18. Preparing book-to-tax journal entries and collaborating with Staff Accountants to ensure accuracy.
  19. Generating quarterly tax projections, estimates, and year-end bonuses in a timely manner.
  20. Establishing tax data collection systems and reporting tools to keep supervisors informed of progress and risks.
  21. Advising staff on the tax implications of corporate strategies.
  22. Maintaining thorough documentation for all journal entries and deliverables.
  23. Identifying training opportunities to bridge skill gaps.
  24. Monitoring progress against established objectives.
  25. Encouraging teamwork both internally and externally.
  26. Providing educational opportunities to enhance team knowledge.
  27. Ensuring accurate and current information is maintained within the timekeeping system.
  28. Keeping supervisors updated on project statuses and relevant information.
  29. Organizing and storing working papers for easy retrieval.
  30. Maintaining documentation of the status of all assigned tasks.
  31. Supporting a paperless initiative through the use of scanning and saving technology.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and ProSystems.
  • Ability to commute reliably to the Tri Star office.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with a strong academic background.
  • Master's degree in Taxation is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Active CPA license (TN or CA preferred).
  • Experience in public accounting, business management firms, or the entertainment industry with transferable skills.
