Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of federal and state tax filings for individuals, corporations, trusts, and exempt entities.
  2. Development of intricate income tax returns, including those for partnerships and S corporations.
  3. Creation of quarterly tax projections for review by the Tax Manager.
  4. Oversight of tax preparation documentation and initial return assessments.
  5. Management of quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.
  6. Calculation and issuance of W-2s and 1099s.
  7. Drafting of tax-related correspondence and assisting in negotiations with tax authorities.
  8. Conducting tax research as necessary.
  9. Supporting the Tax Manager in coordinating audits by various tax agencies.
  10. Assisting in the formation and dissolution of entities.
  11. Providing training and guidance to Staff Accountants on tax-related matters.
  12. Identifying opportunities for enhancing service delivery and communication.
  13. Building strong relationships with Business Management teams to understand client needs and risk assessments.
  14. Proactively addressing potential issues and proposing solutions.
  15. Preparing presentations tailored to various management levels.
  16. Utilizing tax knowledge to develop strategies for deferring tax liabilities.
  17. Reviewing general ledgers for accuracy and appropriate accounting treatment.
  18. Preparing journal entries related to book-to-tax adjustments and ensuring accuracy in financial records.
  19. Creating systems for tax data collection and monitoring to keep supervisors informed of progress and risks.
  20. Advising staff on the tax implications of corporate strategies.
  21. Maintaining thorough documentation for all journal entries and deliverables.
  22. Identifying training needs to bridge skill gaps.
  23. Monitoring progress against established objectives.
  24. Encouraging teamwork both within the department and externally.
  25. Facilitating knowledge sharing to benefit team members.
  26. Ensuring accurate and timely updates to supervisors regarding project statuses.
  27. Maintaining organized and retrievable working papers.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and ProSystems.
  • Ability to commute reliably to the office.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with a strong academic background.
  • Master's degree in Taxation is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Active CPA license (TN or CA preferred).
  • Experience in public accounting, business management, or the entertainment industry is advantageous.
