Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for providing systems engineering thought leadership and expertise focusing on requirements analysis, concept/technology development, risk assessments, and test & evaluation for strategic deterrent systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and assess requirements for strategic deterrent systems
  • Develop architectures and build analysis tools
  • Perform trade studies, requirements analysis, functional analysis, and performance assessment
  • Lead design and requirements reviews
  • Provide domain expertise and lead/coordinate research, studies, and analysis on current and future weapons system capabilities and performance
  • Deliver formal presentations to sponsors and supporting contractors
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field
  • Proven experience performing systems engineering in the design, development, or evaluation of complex weapon systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with and lead diverse, multidisciplinary teams
  • Active Secret security clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in systems engineering
  • Experience in systems engineering for missile systems
  • Experience with DoD acquisition processes, Navy Strategic Systems programs, and/or Air Force ICBM programs
  • Familiarity with systems engineering software, especially model-based systems engineering tools
