Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Systems Engineering Group, you will play a critical role in the development and assessment of requirements, architecture, and analysis tools for nationally important defense programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and assess requirements for strategic weapons systems development programs
  • Develop architectures and build analysis tools
  • Perform trade studies, requirements analysis, functional analysis, and performance assessment
  • Provide systems engineering thought leadership and expertise
  • Lead/coordinate research, studies, and analysis on current and future weapons system capabilities and performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field
  • Proven experience performing systems engineering in the design, development, or evaluation of complex weapon systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as critical thinking skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with and lead diverse, multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in systems engineering
  • Experience in systems engineering for missile systems
  • Experience with DoD acquisition processes, Navy Strategic Systems programs, and/or Air Force ICBM programs
  • Familiarity with systems engineering software, especially model-based systems engineering tools
