Job Title: Senior Radar Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Radar Systems Engineer to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical technical leadership role in fielding next-generation Navy Radar/EO/IR and Electronic Warfare systems and land-based sensor networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze live tactical sensor data to identify and solve problems that impact mission requirements.
  • Collaborate with teams of sensor engineers, software developers, combat system engineers, and physicists to develop novel algorithms and modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities.
  • Apply signal and data processing tools, including machine learning, to large data sets to develop novel algorithms.
  • Lead teams of radar, combat system, and missile engineers to investigate and address problems due to emergent phenomenology.
  • Advise and guide the strategic direction of analysis capabilities for our group and the programs it supports.
Requirements:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field with at least 5 years of sensor systems engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of radars and/or physics-based phenomena affecting radar or communications systems.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field.
  • Experience with advanced DoD sensors and combat systems, particularly in the areas described above.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
