Job Overview

Position: Peer Recovery Specialist / Community Services Associate III (Full-Time)

A Peer Recovery Specialist is sought for a residential treatment facility dedicated to women's substance use recovery.

This role is situated within a reputable non-profit organization that prioritizes patient care, delivering a comprehensive range of behavioral health services across various settings including outpatient, inpatient, and crisis intervention.

The facility accommodates a maximum of 12 women for up to 120 days, with provisions for mothers to keep their young children with them during their stay.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wage ranging from $18.20 to $27.30, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-time commitment of 40 hours per week
  • Offer recovery support to residents, leveraging personal recovery experiences to guide and motivate
  • Collaborate with treatment center staff to enhance support and educational initiatives for residents
  • Engage in outreach and community education efforts
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients and their families
  • Be prepared to work occasional evenings and weekends as required
  • Standard shifts typically follow a 4x10 schedule

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in substance use treatment
  • Personal recovery experience is essential
  • A minimum of two years of sobriety is highly preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred; candidates without certification must pursue it within one year of hire
  • Understanding of issues faced by women in recovery, particularly those who are new mothers or pregnant, as well as knowledge of co-occurring disorders
  • Proficient in counseling, group therapy, peer support, trauma-informed care, and crisis de-escalation techniques
  • Possession of a valid Virginia Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
