Job Description
As a Perishable Department Manager at Dollar General, you will be responsible for managing the Perishable Departments, including Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, and Dairy, Frozen Food, Bread, and Thaw and Sell Bakery products. You will ensure efficient inventory management, appealing and profitable merchandise presentation, and quality customer service.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
- Ability to perform cash register functions.
- Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
- Knowledge of and willingness to comply with company policies and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to obtain required certifications in food handling.
Work Experience and/or Education
We are looking for candidates with:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
- Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
- Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
Estimated Salary
The estimated salary for this role is between $45,000 and $65,000 per year, depending on location and experience.

Working Conditions
As a Perishable Department Manager, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with frequent walking and standing, frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. You will also be exposed to outside weather conditions and occasional hazardous cleaning solutions.
