Job Title: Legal Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team at Keches Law Group. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide administrative support to our attorneys and play a critical role in the success of our law firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all telephone communications for assigned attorneys, including answering and directing inquiries
  • Produce information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics
  • Coordinate case preparation, including requesting reports and medical records from doctors' offices, hospitals, and urgent care facilities
  • Represent attorneys by communicating and obtaining information, following up on delegated assignments, and knowing when to act and when to refer matters to attorneys
  • Maintain client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential
  • Enhance the reputation of the department and the organization by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to the position
  • Continuously communicate with and update clients throughout the process of their case to ensure they have all the correct and relevant information
  • Open and scan mail addressed to attorneys, file documents, and update client files
  • Potentially train new hire Legal Assistants and Overflow Assistants
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or related field is preferred
  • 1-2 years of law firm experience is preferred
  • Multi-lingual abilities are a plus
  • Strong phone, typing, and computer skills are a must
  • Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with clients, attorneys, and others
  • Must be energetic, well organized, and have the ability to multi-task
  • Must possess and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy; experience working in the hospitality or service industry is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a high intensity, high stress environment handling a multitude of duties
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while accomplishing short-term goals without losing sight and commitment to the longer-term needs of the attorney(s)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills
Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role, however the employee may at times be required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
