Job Summary

Amarillo College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty - Music to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching applied instrumental and vocal private lessons and/or other music courses. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse group of students and contribute to the college's mission of transforming our community and economy through learning, innovation, and achievement.

Responsibilities
  • Teach music courses utilizing engaging instructional methods and techniques.
  • Create lesson plans that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submit college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Participate in course and curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
  • Design and implement assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance and academic performance.
  • Perform effective teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
  • Plan, develop, and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or above.
  • Professional experience with demonstrated teaching competence for the subject and levels taught.
  • Ability to work under stress, independently, and as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to educate themselves regarding college policies.
  • Ability to maintain regular communication with students and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in their teaching field and related technologies.
  • Ability to ensure effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility.
