Job Summary

Amarillo College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty - Nursing Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching nursing courses and contributing to the development of our nursing program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach nursing courses to students, utilizing engaging instructional methods and techniques.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that promote student involvement and application of material.
  • Submit college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Participate in course and curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
  • Design and implement assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance and academic performance.
  • Perform effective teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
  • Plan, develop, and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Good oral and written command of the English language and grammar is required.
  • Ability to understand and apply learner-centered and high-impact instructional methods.
  • Skills in computer operation.
  • Ability to work under stress, independently, and as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to educate themselves regarding College policies.
  • Ability to maintain regular communication with students and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in their teaching field and related technologies.
  • Ability to ensure effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to teach day and/or evening courses as required.
  • Ability to teach off-campus, dual credit, online, and tech-supported courses as required.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Previous post-secondary teaching experience.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is based on the highest level of education. Please review the TEACHING OVERLOAD COMPENSATION and ADJUNCT FACULTY COMPENSATION chart to view the salary pay scale.

Work Environment

This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech-supported setting. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
