About the Role

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our Claims Legal Department in Schaumburg, IL. As a Senior Claims Coverage Counsel, you will play a critical role in managing complex coverage and extra-contractual litigation, providing legal counsel and insights to our Claims and Underwriting teams, and developing and implementing litigation strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex coverage and extra-contractual litigation, including General Liability, Latent and Environmental, and International claims
  • Provide legal counsel and insights to our Claims and Underwriting teams on policy language, new product offerings, and complex coverage interpretations
  • Develop and implement litigation strategy, including assigning cases to outside counsel and evaluating their performance
  • Collaborate with corporate law, underwriting, and claims organizations to ensure continuous improvements to products, processes, and operations
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor and 6 or more years of experience as an attorney with coverage exposure
  • Active member of a State Bar
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Lexis or Westlaw
  • Litigation experience in the insurance industry, claims, or underwriting
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
  • Analytical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
