We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Intake Specialist to join our team at the SPCA of Greater Cincinnati. As a key member of our admissions team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth intake of animals into our shelter, providing exceptional customer service to our clients, and working collaboratively with our staff to achieve our mission.
Key Responsibilities- Animal Intake: Receive and process animals surrendered by their owners, ensuring accurate and complete information is collected and entered into our database system.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to our clients, answering questions and offering alternatives to keep their pets in their homes.
- Medical Care: Administer vaccines and medications to animals as needed, and provide basic medical care to ensure their health and well-being.
- Administrative Tasks: Schedule appointments, answer phones, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals and staff, including cleaning of the intake department and caring for animals in that area.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
- Experience: Previous experience in animal care or a related field preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and physical ability to lift 30 lbs or more.
- Certifications: Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
This position requires working in a physically and emotionally demanding environment, with daily exposure to infectious diseases, parasites, and animal waste. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
