About the Role

GM Financial is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Credit Analyst Intern to join our team. As a Credit Analyst Intern, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing credit risks, assessing credit history, and approving or denying extension of credit to potential customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and maintaining credit analysis for the Commercial Lending organization
  • Analyze credit data to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit
  • Learn to make decisions to approve or deny credit extensions within set credit authority established by senior management and regulatory requirements
  • Develop relationships with dealers to ensure volume objectives and credit quality
  • Gain knowledge of how GM Financial captures automotive finance contracts that meet profitability criteria for pricing and performance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to maximize efficiency within the company
  • Ensure all queues are worked to acceptable service levels
  • Conduct joint dealer calls with Dealer Account Representative (DAR) as needed
  • Perform outbound telemarketing calls to dealer customers
  • Ensure proper documentation is received on all deals
Requirements
  • Must be a current student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or a related major with at least one semester remaining upon start of the internship
  • Must possess a minimum of a 3.0 (out of a 4-point scale) overall GPA
  • Senior classification preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and conceptual skills required
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team setting
  • Previous internships are considered a plus
