Regional Medical Assistant II

The Regional Medical Assistant II role at Akron Children's Hospital is designed for individuals who can provide advanced clinical and administrative assistance across various ACHP locations. This position requires flexibility as it involves traveling within a designated region on a rotating schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations, including taking and recording vital signs.
- Perform phlebotomy and administer medications as instructed by healthcare providers.
- Gather and document patient data that contributes to personalized care assessments.
- Process and submit laboratory specimens in compliance with established protocols.
- Effectively communicate patient information to healthcare providers and licensed nurses.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the EPIC system.
- Manage point-of-service tasks such as appointment scheduling and co-payment collection.
- Conduct department-specific clinical duties, including screenings and other procedures.
- Handle routine office tasks, including faxing, copying, and filing.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms.
- Foster positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
- Address work-related issues with minimal assistance from supervisors.
- Engage in departmental improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Experience in phlebotomy is advantageous. Proficiency in medical terminology is essential. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) is required.
Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program is required.
Certification: Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of six months of relevant experience is required. No supervisory experience is necessary.
Employment Status: This is a full-time position requiring onsite presence.
