Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to perform mechanical repairs, testing, and troubleshooting on rail cars. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical schematics and be able to troubleshoot misfires.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and repair rail car equipment, including metal finishing and mechanical repairs.
- Set up work on rail cars from drawings, procedures, and written and verbal instructions.
- Build production aids, such as templates and hand jigs, to assist work.
- Perform acceptable repairs on materials and build jigs, fixtures, and other production time-saving devices from drawings.
- Use hand and power tools efficiently and assemble wire harnesses and terminate wire ends.
- Route cables or wire in complex areas, such as cabs, electric lockers, or train line boxes, and perform soldering to make wire connections.
- Working knowledge of electrical schematics and ability to troubleshoot misfires.
- Mechanical aptitude and electrical wiring experience.
- Ability to work outdoors and indoors, with flexibility in schedules.
