Job Description:

The RN Shared Leader plays a pivotal role in supporting the fundamentals of safety, quality, experience, and stewardship by providing clinical expertise and leadership to their department. As a part of line management, this role will have significant leadership responsibilities, including leading change, scheduling, maintenance of staff competencies, new employee selection and orientation, constructive discipline, and completion of annual employee performance reviews.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess: Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate.
  • Plan: Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plans of care, actively seeking patient, family, team, and physician involvement.
  • Implement: Develops and implements initiatives to support department continuous improvement and zero harm efforts, directing the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration as appropriate.
  • Evaluate: Evaluates patient response to interventions through review of achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, patient, and family satisfaction, revising plans of care as indicated.
  • Professionalism: Promotes nursing profession and participates in development of others, integrating legal and ethical standards into practice.
  • Staffing: Assists Department Manager in decisions related to needed positions, selection, retention, orientation, and ensures that staffing levels and skill levels match census and acuities for the department.
  • Patient Flow: Forecasts and communicates accurate information on admission, discharge, and transfer to ensure appropriate patient placement.
  • Leadership: Shares responsibility for the day-to-day operations, promotes safety, quality, and experience for patients and caregivers, serves as a clinical resource and role model to all staff members.
Requirements:
  • Current RN License in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Demonstrated nursing experience in assigned clinical area.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a clinical nursing setting.
  • One year of nursing experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment, and frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
