Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Hospitalist Coordinator to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, coordinating and organizing the clinical care provided to inpatients under the Hospitalists Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and organize the clinical care provided to inpatients under the Hospitalists Service, ensuring seamless and efficient patient care.
  • Review hospitalists' patient census and use clinical expertise to divide patient loads, creating a work-list each day.
  • Organize logistics for physician rounds, gathering paperwork, forms, and medication reconciliation, and preparing orders and prescriptions for discharging patients.
  • Maintain effective communication with community physicians and assist the Hospitalists with hand-off, ensuring smooth transitions of care.
  • Screen and answer questions from patients and families post-discharge, and field questions from pharmacies, mortuaries, and other external parties.
  • Work with physicians and patients to improve patient engagement and satisfaction scores, providing written information and resources as needed.
  • Use resources effectively, identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining positive clinical and service outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Hospitalists, Case Management, and Social Services to identify barriers to care, reduce length of stay, and decrease costs.
  • Role-model and foster an environment of professionalism and personal engagement in the department and hospital, treating colleagues with mutual respect and working collaboratively to create a dynamic environment.
  • Work with Physicians to develop standardized processes and approaches for treatment, using evidence-based medicine and providing physician reminders for consistent, quality practice.
  • Represent Intermountain Healthcare in a positive way, explaining the hospitalists' role to patients and families in a clear and concise manner.
Requirements
  • Current RN License in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Two years of clinical hospital experience.
  • Basic computer experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in training and auditing procedures.
  • Clear understanding of healthcare products, ethics policies, and internal processes.
  • Working knowledge of IDX, Clinical Workstation, AS400, LINC, OVID, and the Int.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess patient needs.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
