Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at VCU Health. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be responsible for providing quality customer service to patients and their families, ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and courtesy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain an environmental control plan to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Coordinate materials management for the department, including ordering supplies and managing inventory.
  • Assist in monitoring clinic activities, including scheduling and registration.
  • Provide supervision of clerical activities, including data entry and record-keeping.
  • Handle all business functions in an assigned area, including reception, scheduling, and registering patients for appointments and procedures.
  • Secure patient information, ensure registration data is accurate, and validate insurance eligibility.
  • Collect co-pay (if applicable) and assist with financial counseling and clearance as needed.
Requirements
  • Previous experience with computers, Microsoft Office software, and navigating the internet.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute.
  • Previous work experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field from an accredited program (preferred).
Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged standing, sitting, and walking, as well as frequent bending and reaching. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to handle multiple priorities and frequent customer interactions.
