Job Title: Reinsurance Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Reinsurance Accounting Manager to join our team at QBE Americas, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the financial operations of our reinsurance accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and collaborating with key stakeholders to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial operations of our reinsurance accounting department, including premium and loss accounting, reinsurance premium and loss allocation, and reinsurance receipt and disbursement processes.
  • Partner with key business units to ensure the proper interpretation, recognition, accounting, and operational implementation of internal and external reinsurance agreements.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with service providers, external brokers/reinsurers, and financial peers.
  • Lead financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation of reinsurance-related accounts in support of financial statement preparation for local, US Statutory, and Group requirements.
  • Direct the assumption, settlement, and resolution of variances related to the reinsurance book of business.
  • Establish and maintain effective processes and controls over collateral used to secure reinsurance exposures, including bad debt and reserve analyses, and to mitigate Schedule F penalties.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory, GAAP, and IFRS, and other company requirements and audit processes, developing and executing action plans designed to remediate internal control deficiencies.
  • Lead the coordination of recurring audits and internal control reviews conducted by internal and external auditors. Analyze and develop effective responses to audit findings.
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs, and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • High degree of financial acumen and awareness of financial responsibility.
  • Effectively present thoughts to influence and persuade organizational leaders and key stakeholders to adopt innovative recommendations.
  • Use multiple resources to gather and analyze information and use logic to address complex work-related issues and problems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers; understand the needs and goals of a customer and actively look for ways to meet them.
  • Monitor short and long-term impact of contributions and ensure accuracy and adherence to long-term goals.
  • Prioritize interests of the company during decision-making.
  • Influence and collaborate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal.
  • Motivational, inspirational, and enthusiastic approach to team leading and management.
  • Use internal and external resources to gather, analyze, and reorganize information.
  • Provide vision and think creatively and innovatively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive ceded reinsurance experience.
  • Managing or leading others.
  • Increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Advanced working knowledge of reinsurance and related contracts and claim recovery processes and reinsurance systems.
  • Advanced working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Advanced working knowledge of managing financial operations and reporting.
  • Advanced working knowledge of relevant trends and information within the industry.
  • Advanced working knowledge of financial analysis and financial modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Working knowledge of systems and technology utilized within the area of responsibility.

Compensation:

Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to, education, experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs

Annual Salary Range: $146,000 - $220,000

Annual Salary Range: $161,000 - $242,000

Annual Salary Range: $183,000 - $275,000
