Staff Accountant

We're seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our Reinsurance Accounting team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly premium and loss bordereaux, monitoring aging of reinsurance accounts receivable, and ensuring timely submission to reinsurers and brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly and quarterly premium and loss bordereaux.
- Monitor and manage reinsurance accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection and resolution of outstanding balances.
- Assist in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and STAT accounting standards.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, including system upgrades and process enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance; and/or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and above-average math aptitude/ability.
- Ability to accurately research and follow through on complex problem-solving items, as well as initiate resolutions at multiple levels within the organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and effectively meet deadlines working on multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Excellent ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient PC skills developed through extensive use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and Word, in addition to experience and knowledge of accounting software.
