Join Argo Group as a Staff Accountant - Reinsurance

Argo Group is a leading provider of specialty insurance products and services. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Reinsurance team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly premium and loss bordereaux to reinsurers and brokers.
  • Monitor and manage reinsurance accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection efforts.
  • Assist in the month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of reinsurance transactions within the monthly close cycle.
  • Support quarterly and year-end reporting in accordance with GAAP and STAT.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and process enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and above-average math aptitude.
  • Ability to research and follow through on complex problem-solving items, and initiate resolutions at multiple levels within the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage, prioritize, and effectively meet deadlines on multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and Word, as well as experience with accounting software.
  • Professional demeanor, encompassing the company's vision and values when working with customers and colleagues.

  • A competitive salary range of $89,800-$105,800 USD, commensurate with candidate experience.
