Purchasing Specialist

As a Purchasing Specialist at LKQ, you will be responsible for maintaining purchase manifests and supplier accounts. You will determine and plan daily routes and vendor visits, deliver payment to vendors, and identify potential new customers to establish relationships. You will also maintain awareness of company inventory and supply needs, and maintain a network of customers to sustain continuity and consistency in quality and volume buys.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain purchase manifests and supplier accounts
  • Determine and plan daily routes and vendor visits
  • Deliver payment to vendors
  • Identify potential new customers and establish relationships
  • Maintain awareness of company inventory and supply needs
  • Maintain a network of customers to sustain continuity and consistency in quality and volume buys
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1+ years related car, procurement, yard, or warehouse experience
  • Ability to judge the resalable of products purchased
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass an MVR and Drug Test
  • If driving 10,001+ GVWR, must have medical certification
  • Must qualify for corporate insurance programs, including vehicle insurance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Forklift experience
  • College coursework
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of replacement parts for the aftermarket collision repair industry
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods
  • The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds
  • The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment
