Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Program Manager to oversee the application, implementation, and evaluation of complex multi-year, multi-site research projects at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement research project plans and programs in collaboration with senior principal investigators.
  • Convene and provide direction to project teams, comprising data staff, research associates, and coordinators, to develop project work plans, study designs, literature reviews, analysis plans, and results.
  • Prepare project budgets and manage grant and contractual expenditures with the department administrator.
  • Identify necessary resources to perform research projects, including coordinating with UMass Chan Medical School and other University campuses.
  • Hire, advise, and supervise research project directors, coordinators, and per diem staff, and provide functional supervision of other project staff as needed.
  • Write scientific papers describing research project results in conjunction with the Principal Investigator.
  • Coordinate formal communications and meetings between on-site Principal Investigators and sub-award principal investigators, and work with senior departmental management regarding research project needs and concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a health policy-related field.
  • 7 years' experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating research programs, including project management, supervision of staff, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of supervision and coordination of complex, federally funded, multi-site research projects in an academic setting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with faculty, staff, and investigators, and produce reports suitable for an academic audience.
