Job Summary

The Bilingual Infant Toddler Childcare Specialist will provide training, support, and consultation to licensed family childcare homes and licensed childcare centers to improve the quality and accessibility of infant and toddler childcare. The successful candidate will promote and adhere to our workplace core capabilities of accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement, communication, competent people, and clear priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Maintain Relationships with Childcare Providers
  • Establish time-limited working relationships with childcare practitioners to support providers in improving the quality of services to infants and toddlers.
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance, and trainings on infant toddler development, brain science, positive discipline, designing environments, transitions, routines, and communication/relationships-building with parents/guardians.
  • Be available in-person and remotely to providers.
Facilitate Cohorts and Communities of Practice
  • Facilitate cohorts or CoPs for providers to receive Quality Improvement funds via IDHS.
  • Provide training, technical assistance, reflective practice, and consultation to providers.
Work with Providers and Other Specialists
  • Work in partnership with providers and other specialists to jointly assess and identify infant toddler program needs and concerns.
  • Work with other Infant Toddler Childcare Specialists and specialists to develop comprehensive infant toddler trainings, CQI cohorts, and Communities of Practice.
Documentation and Communication
  • Maintain documentation of contract-related activities through data recording systems.
  • Communicate with providers and other stakeholders as needed.
Meet IDHS Credentialing Requirements
  • Hold the Gateways to Opportunity ECE Level 5 and ITC Level 4 credentials.
  • Meet IDHS requirements within the first year of employment, including attending PITC trainings, becoming certified on all 4 PITC modules, enrolling in the ITN Trainer Registry, and completing all INCCRRA required trainings.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience working in a licensed childcare program, including experience working directly with infants and toddlers.
  • Knowledge of infant toddler development.
