Job Title: Executive Director

Overview:

The Executive Director is responsible for leading the Houma-Terrebonne Airport (HUM) team in achieving its mission and vision. This role requires a strong leader who can manage systems, perform marketing efforts, and represent the airport in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage airport operations in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the airport and its services.
  • Represent the airport in public relations activities and build relationships with local, city, and state business leaders.
  • Ensure the airport's economic growth by identifying and developing cutting-edge technology.
  • Negotiate leases and have signature authority to extend leases or option renewals.
  • Manage the development, funding, and construction of aviation infrastructure.
  • Work with state and federal congressional committees to gain assistance for airport infrastructure projects.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Airport Commission and ensure the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Operate safe, efficient, and cost-effective aviation facilities and services.
  • Ensure the airport's staff maintains a sound financial structure and creates an annual budget.
  • Represent the airport and maintain good working relationships with major aviation customers, governmental officials, and the public.
  • Advises the Board of Commissioners on the implementation of present policies and recommends new policies when necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the airport.
  • Manages and resolves employee grievances and submits unsettled grievances to the Airport Commission for action.
  • Responsible for all efforts and duties in managing crewed, uncrewed, or optionally piloted operations on the airport campus.
  • Represents the airport regarding special projects, including UAS, LONI, and Regional Emergency Equipment Facility REEF.
  • Responsible for performing duties necessary to bring UAS activities to the airport and continue any processes to keep the activities current and up to date.
  • Expected to travel 20% or more to further the interests of the airport.
  • Attends all meetings, conferences, and seminars pertinent to airport management and supported flight operations.
  • Follows all safety regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or mathematics preferred.
  • Master's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Graduation from test pilot school with fixed or rotary wing pilot or engineering experience in experimental/developmental or certification flight test preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in airport operations with five (5) years in a management or leadership role.
  • Commercial Pilot - Certificate/Instrument Rating/or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) preferred.
  • Current FAA Part 107 Commercial UAS Operator Certificate or ability to obtain one preferred.
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate or ability to obtain one preferred.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate - Airplane category multiengine class rating-two (2) years of experience as a PIC in operations under Part 91, 135, or 121 preferred.
  • Pilot in Command - during either operational or business-related missions preferred.
