Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

As a Speech and Language Pathologist, your role will be pivotal in helping students cultivate the communication skills necessary for academic success. You will evaluate and deliver speech and language therapy at designated KIPP NJ school locations, concentrating on enhancing students' oral communication abilities to facilitate their educational experience. You will report directly to the Director of Special Education.

Essential Functions:

Communication Champion
  • Deliver direct therapy to students with speech-language challenges.
  • Design and execute educationally-focused IEP communication objectives utilizing various service delivery models to support classroom learning.
  • Conduct screenings for speech and language.
  • Implement and adhere to treatment plans.
  • Engage with families of students on your caseload to discuss progress towards IEP objectives.
Collaborative Team Player
  • Work alongside educators to ensure students achieve the goals set forth in their IEPs.
  • Provide tailored classroom strategies to enhance specific communication skills.
  • Participate as a key member of the child study team.
Organizational Expert
  • Document student progress in relation to established goals and objectives.
  • Attend IEP meetings for students on your caseload.
  • Conduct formal assessments.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree from an ASHA accredited institution with a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) or actively pursuing completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Proficiency in speech-language report writing.
  • Familiarity with formal speech-language assessments.
  • Adaptability to various school environments, procedures, and staff dynamics.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • A commitment to the belief that every student deserves a world-class education, achievable through educational reform.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A proven track record of exceptional student outcomes within a high-performing charter network or charter management organization.
