Payroll Deductions Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Deductions Specialist to join our team at North Carolina Jobs. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately and timely processing payroll deduction data through a computerized payroll system in a high volume payroll operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll deductions such as health insurance, garnishments, credit union, self-elected cafeteria benefits, 401k/453/457 plans, disability income, and direct deposits.
- Maintain reliability and confidentiality of records.
- Provide outstanding customer support through verbal, written, and face-to-face communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience in and knowledge of payroll deduction practices required.
- Experience in NC public school payroll highly desirable.
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
- High school diploma earned at a regionally accredited school required; Associate Degree in accounting or business related field preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, walking.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
- Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
