About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at Amtrak. As a key member of our safety and security department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our passengers, employees, and assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general police duties, including patrols, investigations, and emergency response.
  • Enforce federal, state, and local laws, as well as Amtrak's policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough investigations to solve crimes and reduce criminal opportunities.
  • Arrest and detain offenders, and serve warrants as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with law enforcement agencies, internal and external partners, and the public.
  • Record information and prepare detailed reports.
Requirements
  • Valid Basic Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) certification.
  • One year of full-time equivalent work experience as a certified law enforcement professional.
  • Active and recently retired Oregon Police Officers are encouraged to apply.
  • Must be a United States citizen or meet the immigration requirements in the state where they will hold a railroad police officer commission.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Ability to pass all components of the police application process, including a physical agility test, interview, psychological examination, and in-depth background investigation.
