Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Oversees a team of personnel, ensuring equitable distribution of tasks in line with established operational procedures;
- Engages with individuals encountered to foster a secure and positive atmosphere;
- Provides instruction and training to staff on specific operational tasks and methodologies;
- Addresses minor employee grievances and escalates more serious issues to management;
- Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local laws as well as agency regulations related to law enforcement activities;
- Drafts comprehensive incident reports that include relevant, factual information, ensuring timely submission;
- Conducts interviews with victims and witnesses at incident scenes;
- Issues citations for observed legal infractions;
- Offers assistance to victims of incidents, including administering first aid;
- Collects statements from individuals involved in or witnessing incidents;
- Pursues and detains individuals fleeing from crime scenes or resisting arrest;
- Identifies and responds to life-threatening situations, including natural disasters and criminal threats;
- Conducts both short-term and long-term investigations;
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment: The role involves exposure to various risks and potential hazards, necessitating the use of safety measures and personal protective equipment.
Conditions of Employment
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selected candidates will undergo a drug screening process.
- Registration with Selective Service is mandatory for males born after December 31, 1959.
- Probationary period may be required.
- Background/security investigation will be conducted.
- Completion of an online onboarding process is necessary.
- Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination programs is required.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements is mandatory.
- A valid state driver's license is essential.
- Must achieve and maintain firearm qualification as per agency standards.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet specific experience and licensing requirements.
Experience Requirement: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level, demonstrating knowledge of law enforcement operations and responsibilities related to maintaining safety and security.
Driver's License Requirement: A valid, unrestricted state driver's license is required, along with a safe driving record.
Firearm Requirement: Officers must carry agency-approved firearms while on duty and maintain qualification as a condition of employment.
Physical Requirements: The position demands significant physical exertion, including running and lifting heavy objects, and involves exposure to hazardous conditions.
