Position Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

Overview: Pride Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to become a vital part of our client's healthcare team. This role is integral to ensuring high-quality laboratory services within a reputable healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to laboratory protocols for specimen management, testing procedures, and documentation of patient results.
  • Ensure that proficiency testing samples are handled with the same rigor as patient specimens.
  • Conduct analyses of specimens using established testing methodologies as outlined in departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Review, validate, and release test outcomes in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines including CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA to maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Implement quality control measures, documenting all activities related to quality assurance, equipment calibration, and maintenance.
  • Address any deviations from established performance levels and report issues to senior staff as necessary.
  • Document corrective actions taken in response to any discrepancies in test performance.
  • Follow established protocols for reporting critical or urgent results to clients.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients and laboratory personnel regarding testing procedures and results.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all laboratory testing conducted.
  • Ensure the laboratory environment is kept orderly and professional.
  • Verify that all reagents and test kits are properly labeled with received dates, expiration dates, and opened dates where applicable.
  • Participate in training on new procedures and attend departmental meetings for ongoing education.
  • Engage in safety training sessions and be familiar with the safety manual and equipment.
  • Assist in regulatory inspections as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • At least one year of clinical laboratory experience, particularly in high-complexity testing.
