Procurement Strategy Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Procurement Strategy Specialist at Sun Communities is integral to shaping and executing our supply chain initiatives through effective sourcing and procurement practices. This role involves cultivating supplier relationships and crafting solutions that align with our operational requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of assigned categories and formulates sourcing strategies that take into account market dynamics, organizational goals, and total cost considerations.
  • Evaluates and computes costs associated with products/services to devise strategies for cost savings.
  • Influences purchasing decisions by ensuring that selected suppliers meet performance expectations and align with our procurement objectives. Works to create solutions that enhance supplier partnerships.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify and capitalize on opportunities for product and service enhancements, focusing on standardization and efficiency.
  • Oversees and directs cross-functional RFI and RFP initiatives that align with business goals, ensuring clear communication throughout the organization.
  • Negotiates contracts with key suppliers, considering all facets of a successful partnership, including pricing, terms, service, and quality.
  • Ensures the effective rollout of sourced products, services, and supplier programs through proficient project and change management practices.
  • Gathers feedback on supplier performance from various teams within the organization.
  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure a focus on overall value, including quality, service responsiveness, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Identifies and escalates significant external relationships that may impact supply chain operations and decision-making.
  • Adheres to sourcing and procurement policies and best practices.
  • Plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing efficient procurement processes and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline. (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sourcing and procurement.
  • A collaborative team player with a strong commitment to service and a passion for people.
  • Possesses an analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems creatively, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Focused on internal customer needs, capable of identifying and addressing key stakeholder requirements.
  • A proactive self-starter demonstrating flexibility, initiative, sound judgment, and reliability.
  • Committed to continuous improvement with extensive knowledge and experience in developing and implementing sourcing and procurement processes and systems.
  • Willingness to travel to foster and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.
  • Strong expertise in supply chain management and negotiation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Quick to adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Experience in project management.
