About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect to join our team at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing highly scalable cloud-based solutions. This role involves leading the development and administration of platform tools for cloud business solution deployment, defining strategies and protocols for cloud operations, and overseeing and innovating processes for improving cloud environment availability, scalability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect cloud-based solutions that are highly scalable and responsive, yet cost-effective.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of platform tools to support the release of cloud-based business solutions to both pre-production and production environments.
  • Define strategy, procedures, and protocols for day-to-day operations partnering closely with the Technology Leadership team and Managed Service Providers.
  • Oversee, innovate, create processes, software, and tooling that continuously improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our cloud environments.
  • Transform our cloud environments to run as a fully automated Everything as a Code environment.
  • Tackle complex infrastructure challenges with scalable automation and CI/CD solutions.
  • Work with teams to create processes and tools to ensure the software release pipeline flows smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
  • Build and manage CI/CD workflows and complex system integration.
  • Vendor and contract management, including purchasing and pricing negotiation.
  • Manage the DevOps team as direct reports providing day-to-day architecture leadership.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience.
  • 6-8 years of proven development and DevOps experience deploying and maintaining multi-tiered infrastructure and web applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.
  • AWS/Azure Solutions Architect Certifications, AWS Certified Architect Professional required.
  • Experience in managing hybrid (on-prem and cloud), highly available, multi-tenant, multi-platform service that includes technologies from Linux, Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, and NetApp.
  • Knowledge of network architecture, storage systems, virtualization technologies, containers.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, Ansible, Terraform, Cloud formation.
  • Capacity planning and performance optimization for hardware, VMs, and data stores.
  • Data security frameworks and regulatory compliance, such as PCI or HIPAA.
