California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. (CRLA) has been a pillar of community advocacy since 1966, focusing on empowering marginalized groups including farmworkers, indigenous communities, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families in rural settings. Our mission is to provide essential legal services that address systemic injustices through community engagement and lawyering.
Program Focus:
The Community Equity Initiative (CEI) is dedicated to addressing the legal needs of disadvantaged unincorporated communities, particularly in infrastructure and environmental justice. The Tulare office, set to open soon, will be pivotal in this mission. We are seeking a meticulous Legal Administrative Assistant who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about community service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a range of legal documents including correspondence, petitions, and motions.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in all outgoing communications and legal filings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local court rules and procedural requirements.
- Organize and manage legal records, ensuring adherence to deadlines and legal standards.
- Handle various administrative tasks such as managing filing systems and appointment schedules.
- Utilize office equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Input and maintain case information in the case management system.
- Support the CEI Administrative Legal Secretary as needed.
- Assist with library management and other office duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a legal administrative role or equivalent.
- Typing speed of 55-60 words per minute.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Ability to learn and effectively use case management systems.
- Strong collaborative skills with a commitment to confidentiality.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with low-income communities.
- Background in non-profit legal services.
- Prior experience in legal settings.
Compensation & Benefits:
